Worthy

"When you start seeing your worth, you’ll find it harder to stay around people who don’t.”

Isn’t this the truth!  It is time that people who do not value and see the worth of all people move aside and let others who have a deeper understanding of  all humans to be the leaders of this world. To date, I haven’t blogged much about politics. I have been focusing on my transfiguration in this world so that I can not only become the best version of myself, but I can be someone who people can trust and look up to, and know with the greatest comfort of heart, that I will be there for them.

It is said that through our deepest pain we find our power.  This is so true for me. Being on the receiving end of the injustices being done to myself, to my family, to my friends, to people who simply choose not to conform, I stand to be our voice.  Politics as usual has diminished our trust. People are simply tired of the same mentality, “I can show I’m qualified because I check all the boxes” mentality. This is the VERY reason I am running.  Who determines qualified? When people run around stating they are more qualified than me, I have a silent chuckle in my heart, because that is THEIR narrative that THEY created in order to solidify positions of power.

Today is a new day!  WE the people are WORTHY of so much more from this life and from leadership.  Leadership in today’s world to determine who should lead this next phase should include, but not limited to:

  1. Possess EMPATHY for the lives of all people, for the marginalized, for the less fortunate and to fight tooth and nail for ALL people, and have a proven track record of creating positive change for marginalized people.

  2. Have emotional intelligence about equity, and not just the definition on google, but understand the very ecosystems that exist which have been constructed to provide privilege to some and marginalize others.  A leader must demonstrate how one has tackled and addressed these ecosystems.

  3. Experience in the community with others that do not look like ourselves.  We must be fully engaged in the total community and understand the needs of all people and be able to articulate and create change that addresses these issues.

  4. Experience in Life!  Life is extremely challenging.  Those that have experienced life have suffered greatly, been through the hills and valleys of life, have climbed out of the trenches and succeeded, have raised children, have been the recipients of injustice.  We are people that have been told NO one thousand times to one yes. We have been followed in stores, pulled over for driving while... you fill in that blank. We are people who have had to tell our kids not to wear hoodies, to not stay out after dark, to ensure they are respectful to everyone even though that same courtesy isn’t extended to us.

These attributes will show that one understands the worth of the people.  It is through these attributes that we can help others rise. When we lift others, we rise.  Not the other way around! People first! The more you love yourself, the less nonsense you will tolerate! I believe in all people.

I look forward to leading on behalf of all people in our constituency.  I look forward to seeing that below my mass is substance. I have courage and tenacity to tackle the tough issues.  #SOS

With love,
